The in-house RPA successfully reduced the workload

Tokyo, July 30 2018 – CAC Croit Corporation today announced that it has implemented the RPA for  harmacovigilance (PV) operations contracted with a Japanese major pharmaceutical company and succeeded in the significant reduction in working hours of the PV operations.

CAC Croit has built its unique and customizable RPA system to respond to complicated scenarios and conditional branching which are difficult to be solved by existing RPA products and put it into practice for PV operations this year. As a result, CAC Croit found that the RPA system can significantly reduce the working hours.

 CAC Croit applied the RPA to only a small part of Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) process in PV operations, but the application of the RPA system to various processes has already been in progress, including automatic data entry into safety database and file management.

 

Reduced more than 65 hours/month by implementing the RPA

 

RPA is an approach or software itself to automate a simple and manual process or repetitive work by programming. Manual processes in PV operations conducted by CAC Croit had taken two and a half minutes in average per case to complete; however, the RPA took 30 seconds to do the same process which means the working hours were shortened by 80 percent. Moreover, the RPA was applied to 2,000 cases or more of the PV manual operations throughout a month and demonstrated to shorten the working hours by more than 65 hours a month.

CAC Croit, having promoted digitalization of various operations in the CRO industry, was quick to exploit digital labor* and built its unique system.

The unique RPA system is customizable to promptly respond to workflows and problems such as complicated scenarios and conditional branching which are difficult to be done by the existing RPA products. In addition, by implementing a validation function, the RPA system can prevent automatic execution by incorrect behavior such as irregular cases, registration failures, and wrong operations.

    As well as the implementation of the RPA, CAC Croit will also implement IPA in combination with AI to enhance operational efficiency.

  3. Promoting research and development and application of state-of-the-art technologies
    Apart from the RPA and the AI, CAC Croit has been verifying other state-of-the-art technologies internally. Pilot tests have been conducted in some projects and CAC Croit expects to put those technologies into practical use and make them more efficient at the earliest.
